XPass Q2 is now here! QR-first reader for high-traffic access.
April 08, 2026

Walk into a gym, stadium, or coworking space today and one thing is clear: access is no longer tied to a single credential. Alongside cards and mobile IDs, QR and barcodes have quickly become a practical way to grant entry to visitors, temporary users, and ticket holders.

Most readers, however, were not designed for that shift. Traditional access devices were built around RFID, with QR added later as an optional module. The result was extra hardware, slower scans, and more maintenance — exactly the wrong fit for high-traffic entrances.

That’s exactly what Suprema’s XPass Q2 sets out to fix. Designed for modern, mixed‑user environments, it unifies QR, barcode, RFID, and mobile credentials into one compact reader built for efficiency and speed.

Designed for Modern Access Environments

Workplaces, gyms, arenas, and event venues now juggle very different user types at the same entry points. Regular staff scan RFID cards, while temporary visitors or ticket holders rely on QR codes. In many deployments, supporting both means separate readers, duplicate wiring, and more maintenance.

XPass Q2 brings those use cases together. A single reader processes all major non-biometric credential types including QR, barcode, RFID, and BLE/NFC mobile access, so facilities can accommodate visitors, members, and employees at the same door. This removes the need for separate lanes or external scanners, reducing installation complexity and long‑term upkeep while keeping the entry experience consistent for everyone.

Ultra-Fast, Reliable, and Ready for the Real World

Facilities with continuous foot traffic need readers that process credentials quickly and consistently. XPass Q2 scans QR and barcode credentials in fractions of a second, keeping entry flow smooth even during peak hours. Its dedicated camera imaging module captures QR and barcode credentials at a range of 5–15 cm and maintains performance even in low-light conditions.

The IP65-rated enclosure protects against dust and water, so the device operates reliably at both outdoor gates and indoor turnstiles. Clear LED indicators and adaptive audio feedback confirm each read instantly, reducing hesitation and keeping lines moving at high-volume access points, a small detail that makes a big difference when hundreds or thousands of scans happen each day.

Works with Your Access Ecosystem

XPass Q2 also fits into the systems operators already use. It works natively with BioStar X, giving teams a single place to manage visitor flows, membership access, and ticket-based entry. Third-party visitor management and ticketing platforms can connect through the BioStar X API, building end-to-end workflows from pre-registration and credential issuance to real-time access logs and compliance reporting.

The reader supports standard barcodes as well, which helps it plug into existing ticketing systems without major changes. And for operators that want to go beyond static QR codes, CLUe, Suprema’s open cloud integration platform, provides a path to dynamic QR and more advanced credential use cases.

Design That Fits Anywhere

Sleek design isn’t just an afterthought. XPass Q2’s slim mullion form factor, dark acrylic finish, and gentle illumination make it blend easily with modern building interiors. Whether it’s deployed at a gym entrance, an event turnstile, or a premium office lobby, it keeps the setup clean and consistent.

Access has shifted from simple card-only setups to a mix of QR tickets, mobile passes, and traditional RFID cards. Facilities that keep stacking separate readers and workarounds will only add more friction and cost over time. XPass Q2 offers a cleaner path forward: one reader that keeps people moving, supports every major credential type, and fits naturally into the spaces where they work, and attend events. It’s not just a new device on the wall; it’s a practical blueprint for how modern access control should work from here on.
