In 2009, the African Capacity Building Centre (ACBC) was established, in Moshi, United Republic of Tanzania to improve the migration management capacity of African States, promote comprehensive migration governance and facilitate a diverse range of immigration and border management projects and training courses. The Centre is hosted by the Tanzania Regional Immigration Training Academy (TRITA) and this unique partnership has benefited both in terms of joint training programs and workshops as well as regional support.

Venezuelan government selects Suprema fingerprint solution to combat smuggling activities.

Smuggling in Venezuela has become a profitable business in recent years, and the smuggled goods are not being restricted to petrol as many might presume. Since many basic goods sold in Venezuela are priced and subsidized at government regulated minimum, smuggling generates large profit when goods are smuggled across Colombia border where goods are valued higher. According to government estimates, up to 40 percent of total basic goods consumed and 100,000 barrels of gasoline per day are smuggled, for a total loss of US$3.6 billion per year.
